Morning Routine of a Successful Entrepreneur
I believe that having a successful and constant morning routine is at the basis of a successful entrepreneur and anyone else who wants to get ahead in their life.
Several months ago, one of my Mastermind colleagues told me about this fantastic book, “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod. This book is about how you can wake up every morning with more energy and motivation. This is vital for any entrepreneur.
Suffice it to say that the book made sense to me. I’m a freedom-loving person and I don’t want to be tied down with “rules” and “routines.’ The bottom line is that when I do get myself into a routine, not only am I much more productive, I just feel better overall, both mentally and physically. The established routine is what helps me to be a better person, to accomplish more in my everyday life and to have enough energy and vitality left over to give to my friends, family and clients.
My Own Morning Routine
My personal routine consists of many steps. It starts the night before with getting good rest, going to bed at a somewhat reasonable time, and using affirmations to help get my brain in a good space before going off to slumber land.
Upon waking in the morning it’s time to use the bathroom facilities, brush my teeth, wash my face and splash with cold water. Then I’m off to the kitchen to drink 16-20 oz. of filtered, fresh water in a true glass (no plastic chemicals for me), drink herbal tea and Bulletproof coffee.
I settle in on the couch and spend about 15 minutes meditating and clearing my head. Then I run through my daily affirmations on health, and spend some time visualizing the good things that I’m intending for the day. I spend probably 30 minutes reading a self-development, self-improvement type of book.
And then there’s the dreaded E-word: Exercise. I find that if I don’t get it done in the morning, it just doesn’t get done at all. Usually the exercise consists of cardio of some kind (walking outside if weather permits or on treadmill; exercise bike, for example) and some weight lifting/strength training exercises to build strong muscles and bones.
Once those steps are accomplished, I usually follow it with a green smoothie made of spinach, kale, fruit, and protein powder. Then I spend some time in prayer/gratitude to give thanks for all the wonderful things in my life.
Then Start the Day
Once my morning routine is done, I begin my day checking my email, read any interesting news that I need to keep apprised of, read some blog posts and catchup on social media.
For my morning routine, the earlier the better is the motto for me. Depending on my daily schedule, I will get up at 4:30 a.m. to get all of this accomplished before I start my day. But since I am an entrepreneur that works from home and have a flexible day, there are many days I can start a little later. The key is to be consistent and get into a morning routine that you will do without even thinking about it. It will give you that great start you need to be successful in all aspects of your life.
